So often in practice a client will instruct an attorney to collect an amount due by a debtor in respect of services rendered, alternatively goods sold and delivered or even both. Clients who are owed money often afford the debtor up to two years to make payment before an attorney is instructed. In most instances waiting this long could prove fatal to the client, as the debtor has then moved or has no assets to execute on and recover.
